What is Traffolyte?
Traffolyte is the common industry term for a multi-layered laminated plastic and was traditionally made from material resins that were exceptionally durable and heat resistant.
Plastic technology has come a long way since its first inception and the laminated plastic we use at Base Labels is made from acrylic-based materials.
This material is made up of multiple layers of different colours which means that any engraved area will be in a contrasting colour to the label itself, making it easy to read and a longer colour fastness compared to traditional printing. Even though the material is referred to as Traffolyte there are many brands and different terms of engraving plastics you may come across.
The brands we use are Gravoply, Rowmark and Trolase. They are the highest quality industry-leading brands with better finish and longer-lasting colour in outdoor environments. These materials are engineered specifically for use with Co2 lasers.
Benefits of Traffolyte
Traffolyte is most commonly used in the electrical industry. From switchboards to circuit identification, Traffolyte is a long-lasting solution for the statutory and safety labels that are required for identifying circuits and electrical equipment in any installation.
Legibility
Unlike other plastics Traffolyte is basically a sandwich of different coloured layers, this means when paired with precise laser engraving, the resulting products have very long-lasting easy to read and legible text.
Versatility
Like most acrylics, Traffolyte is easy to cut into any desired shape and easily engraved, providing flexibility and versatility within a design.
Durability
Traffolyte is UV stable, weather-resistant, heat resistant and impervious to most chemicals. Traffolyte doesn’t conduct electricity that’s why it is typically used in the electrical industry providing a tough and long-lasting solution for any business.
